Dr Beddoe is a gynecologic oncologist, and an Associate Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology & Reproductive Science at Mount Sinai Medical Center in NY.  She obtained her MPH in global health leadership from NYU and currently heads the Division of Global Women’s Health at her institution.

Over the last decade she has worked extensively with the Ministry of Health in Liberia and with JFK Hospital, the main tertiary center in Liberia to help improve health workforce capacity and health literacy.

Through a World Bank grant she oversaw Liberia’s Health Workforce Program (HWP) in surgery and obstetrics providing training to medical students, nurses and residents in both disciplines.

As an immigrant to the United States from Trinidad and Tobago in the late sixties, Dr Beddoe has focused much of her research on health disparities and making cancer care accessible. She co-founded the non for profit The Women Global Cancer Initiative whose mission is to improve cancer care for women globally. Her organization has funded development of Liberia’s only pathology lab, supported their cancer registry and has established a scholarship for fellowship candidates from LMICs to be trained in women’s cancer care.
