Abish Romero is a breast cancer survivor and a public health professional with first-hand perspective on how to improve health policies and programs in low-and-middle income countries in partnership with governments, multilateral organizations and civil society.


Among her professional collaborations with UN Inter-Agencies managing projects and research, the most recent is at PAHO, where she leads a subregional project to improved national, local and inter-country multi-stakeholder coordination and health information systems to leverage national access to public health services for migrants, refugees and asylum seekers. Additionally, she has spent more than ten years engaging with international civil societies advocating for more inclusive health policies at high level meetings in collaboration with the World Health Organization, the Division of Universal Health Coverage/Communicable and Noncommunicable diseases and the NCD Alliance.
